organizers of Community Unity Day, Mayor William Troxell, and the PA
Interagency Task Force, consisting of

Johnson, US Department of Justice, Community Relations Service
- Lt. John Bey, PA State Police, Heritage Affairs Officer
- Harold
Dunbar, Civil Rights Enforcement Section, PA Office of Attorney

The
purpose of this seminar was to help community members
understand:
- The
First Amendment issues involved
- The
recruitment goals and strategies of racial supremacist groups
- What
they have learned about effective responses the day
of rallies
- Community
conditions in which hate crimes occur and in which hate groups are
able to recruit

Floyd Cochran: "Can a Racist
Really Change?"
Floyd Cochran, civil rights activist, educator, and former high-ranking
member of the Aryan Nation, visited the Gettysburg Area the
week prior to September 2nd, with several public speaking engagements.
